IWC’s reign of colors continues with a latest addition to the popular — and tonally on point — addition to the Top Gun family of bold ceramic-cased Pilot’s watches. The newest color to join the collection is “Miramar”, a summery light blue color with a name that takes its name from the site of the famous flight school that was located at Miramar until 1995.

This sky blue hue joins the caramel “Mojave”, the ice-white “Lake Tahoe”, the verdant “Woodland”, dark blue “Oceana” and the original Jet Black case that make up the contemporary cases of these iconic TOP GUN Pilot’s watches. The color was developed by IWC in collaboration with Pantone, and takes inspiration from the light blue T-shirts TOP GUN instructors wore under their flight suits. Of course, it’s more than a happy coincidence that this pale pastel is perfectly pitched for a 2025 summer and pairs perfectly with soft, washed denim.

The ceramic-cased Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun Miramar is limited to 1000 pieces, and, new zirconium oxide ceramic case aside, the blue also shows up on the dial, the hands and even the rubber strap. Caseback, crown, pushers and pin buckle are metal, adding contrast to the equation. So far, this follows a familiar formula for IWC’s TOP GUN releases, but the companion piece brings something new to the table.

On top of the ceramic version, IWC has released a regular steel Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 with a Miramar dial and strap. We suspect that for many, this non-limited release will be the hotter ticket. Not only is it a fraction smaller, but the steel case complements the Miramar blue nicely, and makes for a watch that many will find more versatile than the full-ceramic offering. This is the first time IWC has released a Pantone color in a stainless steel watch, and it will be interesting to see if the trend continues with other members of the TOP GUN family.
