Zenith Dresses The Chronomaster Triple Calendar In Lapis Lazuli

The Chronomaster embraces the stone in a more technical setting.

Long prized for its deep ultramarine hue and natural flecks of golden pyrite, lapis lazuli has become a rising favorite in timepieces lately, especially in designs that nod to the fashionable stone dials of the 1970s. Each piece of lapis is unique, meaning no two dials are ever the same. Visually, its charm lies in how it mimics a starlit night sky, and brands from Piaget to Cartier have incorporated the stone in limited editions to underscore craftsmanship and exclusivity. In fact, Zenith itself made headlines earlier this year at Watches & Wonders 2025, with the G.F.J Calibre 135 featuring a lapis lazuli dial and a mother-of-pearl sub-seconds.

The latest release presents yet another lapis lazuli front in a Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar. Set within a 38mm stainless steel case inspired by the 1969 A386, the lapis lazuli dial is punctuated by silver-toned counters and cleanly integrated calendar complications. The day and month sit at 11 and 2 o’clock, the date is subtly placed at 4:30, and the moonphase display is nestled inside the chronograph minute counter at 6 o’clock.

Inside, it’s powered by the El Primero 3610, a modern evolution of Zenith’s legendary high-frequency movement. It offers a true 1/10th of a second chronograph, with the central seconds hand completing a full rotation in 10 seconds. The 60-hour power reserve, stop-seconds mechanism, and column wheel visible through the sapphire caseback speak to the movement’s robust performance and finishing, including the openworked rotor bearing Zenith’s signature five-pointed star.

Sure, Zenith leaning into lapis lazuli might be a little on the nose, what with the whole “Time to reach your star” slogan, but it’s nonetheless a welcome addition to the sleek Chronomaster. And if we’re being honest? We’re not tired of stone dials yet. Not even close.
