Just last week, Blancpain surprised us with the introduction of two unexpected and striking Fifty Fathoms Automatique models featuring pink and smoky black mother-of-pearl dégradé dials. This week, we see the expansion of a broader, more classic suite of 38mm Fifty Fathoms models, now offered in polished stainless steel, brushed grade 23 titanium, and 18K red gold.

But this isn’t just about resizing. Blancpain has gone back to the drawing board to ensure the new 38mm case isn’t merely a miniaturized version of its iconic diver, but bears a re-proportioned design that feels harmonious on wrists of all sizes. 

With the new 38mm format, the Fifty Fathoms family welcomes five references. Among them: a stainless steel version with a black dial and bezel; a brushed titanium case paired with a vibrant blue dial; and a red gold edition glowing with rich sunburst blue tones. 

And the updated Fifty Fathoms is as technically robust as ever. Inside beats Blancpain’s in-house calibre 1150, offering 100 hours of power reserve, a silicon balance spring for enhanced anti-magnetic protection, and refined finishing visible through the sapphire caseback, including a NAC-coated gold rotor inspired by the original 1953 model.

First created in 1953 by then-CEO and diving pioneer Jean-Jacques Fiechter, the Fifty Fathoms laid the groundwork for the modern dive watch. Its innovations, from water resistance and lockable bezels to luminous markers and anti-magnetic shielding, still define the category today. Blancpain’s continued support of marine conservation through its Ocean Commitment initiative keeps this legacy alive.

With sizes now spanning 38mm, 42mm, and 45mm, the lineup also accommodates a range of wear styles, with strap options from tropic rubber to NATO and polished metal bracelets.
