Girard-Perregaux Unveils Laureato Infinite Grey With Grand Feu Enamel Dial

Girard-Perregaux continues with the 50th anniversary celebrations of its sports luxe watch that debuted in 1975.

At first industrial and minimalist in aesthetic, the Laureato’s new face presents a grand feu enamel dial in gray. This was achieved by applying multiple layers of enamel, which are then fired five to ten times resulting in a deep, lustrous surface.

Beneath the translucent grand feu enamel, in a departure from the Laureato’s usual Clous de Paris design, is a guilloché pattern in a sunray finish that radiates from the center — a motif that again adds to the multi-dimensional effect. The name Infinite Grey refers to the muted medium blue-gray color of the enamel which has a range, shifting from slate to pewter in changing light, further enhanced by the dynamic flinqué pattern.

Beyond the dial’s artistry, the watch remains quintessentially Laureato, with a 42mm x 10.68mm stainless steel case and bracelet. The tonneau-shaped case, enhanced by the signature octagonal bezel, uses a mix of brushed and polished finishes. The integrated H-link bracelet with brushed outer links and polished center links immediately identifies the watch as a Laureato, even from a distance.

Within the case is the manufacture, self-winding Calibre GP01800 with 54-hour power reserve. The movement with its Côtes de Genève decoration on the pink gold rotor, linear Côtes de Genève finishing on the bridges, and perlage on the mainplate, can be viewed through a sapphire crystal caseback.

Peering at the dial, you’ll spot the clean, rhodium-plated baton hands and indices, plus a date window that’s smartly tucked away at 3 o’clock. Even the slim central seconds hand has a thoughtful detail: its counterweight subtly echoes Girard-Perregaux’s famous Gold Bridges, a quiet wink to the brand’s storied past.

While the watch isn’t explicitly badged as a 50th-anniversary limited edition, the Infinite Grey Laureato is a powerful nod to the collection’s heritage. It’s a testament to Girard-Perregaux’s unwavering dedication to its signature design, while pushing the boundaries of dial finishing with that exquisite grand feu enamel and the intricate flinqué technique. In a sports luxe market that sometimes feels a bit loud, the Infinite Grey stands out. It’s for those who appreciate true understated elegance, a refined choice for anyone looking to truly eschew the flashy and embrace quiet sophistication.
